The K-series engine and aluminium protection
The Accord's K-series engines are all-aluminium and famously durable, provided the fluid is changed on time. Inhibitor depletion is more dangerous on an aluminium engine than on a cast-iron block, because aluminium is a far more reactive metal.
According to the data sheet, Zerex Asian Blue returned +447 mV in the aluminium repassivation test against a limit of −400 mV. In practice that means a damaged aluminium surface rebuilds its own protective film.
