A small system means a smaller reserve
The cooling system of a compact Suzuki engine often holds four to five litres rather than the eight or nine of a large V6. That cuts both ways: you need less fluid, but any contamination or inhibitor depletion shows up faster because there is less reserve to buffer it.
The practical conclusion is simple. Economising on coolant in a small car makes little sense, because the total cost is small anyway.
