Antifreeze for Mazda

Mazda is named directly on Valvoline's official data sheet. The sheet itself defines the product as being for vehicles that require a blue or green, silicate-free HOAT, which covers the family Mazda's green factory fluid belongs to.

Skyactiv engines and high compression

Skyactiv-G engines run an unusually high compression ratio for petrol. Higher compression means more heat in the combustion chamber and more thermal load on the aluminium head, precisely the zone the ASTM D4340 test examines.

In that test Zerex Asian Blue returned 0.1 mg/cm²/week against a limit of 1.0, a tenth of the permitted loss.

An honest note on colour

Mazda's factory long-life fluid is greenish while our product is blue. The chemistry belongs to the same family, but the colour will differ.

So the correct approach is a complete flush and refill rather than topping up the old fluid. That way you keep both the chemistry and the information intact.

Frequently asked questions

My Mazda has green fluid. Will blue harm it?
Colour is dye, not chemistry. What matters is flushing the system completely and not mixing two different fluids.
