Antifreeze for Toyota

The honest answer here is less convenient than we would like, and we will still give you the honest one. Toyota, Scion and Lexus genuinely are listed on the official Zerex Asian Blue data sheet. But Toyota's factory Super Long Life Coolant is pink, and for most Toyotas the more direct match is Zerex Asian Red, which we expect with our next shipment.

When blue is the right choice for a Toyota

Blue is appropriate when you are doing a complete flush and no trace of the old pink fluid remains. The manufacturer names Toyota directly in its list of specifications, and the chemistry type, a silicate-free phosphated HOAT, follows the same Japanese logic.

Blue is not the right answer if you simply want to top up a pink system. One litre will not cause a disaster, but it is not good practice, and you permanently lose the ability to tell what is in there by looking.

Why colour still matters

Colour does not determine chemistry, it is only dye. But colour is information. It tells the next mechanic, the next buyer, and you two years from now what is in the system. Once blue is sitting in a pink Toyota, every later decision becomes guesswork.

So our advice is simple. If it is not urgent and the system is healthy, wait for the red. If you need to flush now, the blue is entirely valid by specification.

Frequently asked questions

When will the red arrive?
We expect it with our next shipment. Contact us and we will let you know as soon as it lands.
Can I add blue to pink?
Technically both are silicate-free, phosphated types and it will not cause a disaster. But mixing is not good practice. Either flush completely or top up with the same type.
