Why pink goes on pink
Colour does not determine chemistry, it is only dye. But colour is information. It tells the next mechanic, the next buyer, and you two years from now what is in the system.
The red Zerex was built precisely for vehicles whose factory fluid is pink or red. On a Toyota it therefore does two things at once: it is chemically right and it keeps the colour meaningful.
Like the blue, the red contains no silicates, borates, 2-EHA, amines or nitrites according to the data sheet, and its service life is 5 years or 240,000 km.
Toyota hybrids and the inverter circuit
The Prius, Aqua, Camry Hybrid, Corolla Hybrid, C-HR, RAV4 Hybrid and Alphard all run two independent cooling circuits: one for the engine and one for the inverter and power electronics. The second has its own reservoir and its own electric pump.
Toyota specifies pink SLLC for both circuits, so the same type goes into each. The passages in an inverter heat exchanger are far narrower than those in an engine radiator, so any deposit there immediately reduces heat transfer.
The red Zerex is silicate-free at under 10 ppm silicon, borate-free and hard-water compatible. Still leave the inverter circuit to a specialist, because bleeding it is a procedure of its own.
