Antifreeze for Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi is one of the few brands whose specific specification number, ES 64-217, is printed directly on the official Zerex Asian Blue data sheet. This is not a vague “compatible”, it is a named standard.

The Outlander PHEV and its separate circuits

The Outlander PHEV has several independent thermal circuits: engine, power electronics and battery. Total fluid volume is therefore larger than on a conventional petrol car, and draining and refilling calls for more care.

Before filling, check the manual for the specification listed for each circuit. A PHEV battery loop sometimes requires a different fluid.

Older Mitsubishis and flushing

Many Pajeros, Delicas, Lancers and Space Wagons in Georgia have gone decades without a flush. If the reservoir fluid is brown or shows sediment, flush the system with clean water before filling with anything new.

Pouring fresh coolant into a dirty system means its inhibitors are spent fighting contamination instead of building a protective film, and they exhaust far sooner.

Frequently asked questions

What does ES 64-217 mean?
It is Mitsubishi's own engineering specification number for coolant. Its presence on the data sheet means the product has been formulated against that standard's requirements.
