Antifreeze for Honda Fit and Jazz

The Fit is probably the most numerous Honda in Georgia. Its L13 and L15 engines are small and made of aluminium, and its cooling system is compact enough that any deposit shows up quickly.

Cooling system volume (litres) roughly four to five litres

The Fit Hybrid has a second reservoir

Besides the engine expansion tank, the Fit Hybrid has a second, separate reservoir for the power control unit and inverter. Many owners do not know it exists, and its fluid goes unchanged for years.

Honda specifies blue Type 2 fluid for both circuits and explicitly prohibits mixing it with green Type 1, pink, orange or yellow “universal” coolant.

Dilution for a Fit

A Fit's system typically holds four to five litres. One bottle of concentrate at 50/50 yields 7.5 litres, so a single purchase covers a full fill with spare left over.

Honda states explicitly that neither neat concentrate nor plain water should go into the system. Mix in a separate container first, then fill.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the Fit Hybrid's inverter reservoir?
Usually in the engine bay next to the engine reservoir, often smaller. The exact location varies by generation, so check the manual or have a mechanic point it out.
