Antifreeze for the Nissan Note

The Note arrives in Georgia in numbers from Japanese auctions, increasingly as the e-POWER. The factory fluid is Nissan's blue Long Life Coolant, so your product is Valvoline Zerex Asian Blue.

Cooling system volume (litres) roughly four to five litres, plus the inverter circuit on the e-POWER

In an e-POWER the engine is a generator

In an e-POWER the petrol engine does not turn the wheels. It only generates electricity to feed the battery, and an electric motor drives the car. That has one interesting consequence: the engine often runs at a single steady speed, so heat is produced steadily too.

The other side of it is that the engine stops and restarts constantly. Every restart is a thermal cycle on cold aluminium, exactly what the inhibitor package has to withstand.

A phosphated HOAT suits that scenario: it covers aluminium quickly with a protective film, so protection is working straight after a cold start.

The power electronics circuit

The e-POWER has a separate cooling circuit for the inverter and the electric motor. Before filling anything, check the manual for the specification listed for that circuit.

If it calls for Nissan's blue Long Life Coolant type, our product is in the right family. If it calls for something else, we will tell you plainly that this fluid is not for you.

Frequently asked questions

Is one bottle too much for the Note's small system?
One bottle yields 7.5 litres at 50/50 while the Note's engine circuit holds four to five. The leftover ready mix is useful for topping up, and sealed concentrate keeps for five years.
